Relieve Yourself with the Warmth of Mangeruda Hot Springs

Every now and then, we need a place to relieve ourselves from our boredom and fatigue. However, continuously going on a trip can also be tiring instead of refreshing ourselves up. To relax and enjoy a tourist destination at the same time, consider visiting Mangeruda Hot Springs in Flores, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the province!

Description

Mangeruda Hot Springs is located in Mangeruda, Soa, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The hot springs receive their supply of hot spring water from the nearby Mount Inelika in Bajawa, Ngada Regency. Initially opened as a tourist destination in 1997, the hot springs are now one of the most famous tourist destinations in the whole province.

Because of its strategic location, the hot springs are popular among domestic and foreign tourists who are having a holiday in Flores. Visitors to and from the famous Mount Kelimutu usually stop in these hot springs to relax from their long journey.

Due to the mineral content in the hot springs’ water, visitors come to Mangeruda to cure skin diseases. With a temperature from 36 to 44 degrees Celsius, it is no wonder that people are flocking to this location to enjoy dipping themselves in the hot springs.

Location

The hot spring is located in the village of its namesake, Mangeruda. It takes about 6 minutes and 3.8 kilometers from the nearby Bajawa Soa Airport, which makes it very close if you want to go to the hot springs immediately from the airport.

In this regard, the hot springs are located about 22.8 kilometers northeast of Bajawa, the largest town in the regency, and 23.6 kilometers from Wawomudha Lake, a famous lake in the regency.

Route

The time and distance you can go through can be different depending on your departure site. If you’re going immediately from the Bajawa Soa Airport, it will be very close to Mangeruda. By renting a vehicle from your departure site, it will be easier to go to the hot springs.

Similarly, if you’re going from your stay in Bajawa, you will need a rented vehicle since the distance between Bajawa and Mangeruda is quite far. From Bajawa, you have to take the northeast main road that originally leads to Bajawa Soa Airport before continuing east to Mangeruda.

Amenities

Like any other famous hot spring, multiple facilities have been constructed to cater to the visitors’ needs and convenience. All of these facilities are directly managed by the government of Ngada Regency.

The facilities currently include public toilets, a parking area, a convention hall, and usable lockers to keep the visitors’ belongings, as well as food and beverage shops and souvenir shops.

Furthermore, there are also restaurants and camping sites in Mangeruda Hot Springs, which makes it very feasible for you if you decide to stay there instead of in Bajawa.

When to Visit

To enjoy the fullest experience when visiting Mangeruda, it is highly advisable for you to visit the hot springs during the rainy season. In this season, the hot water stream is in its most active state, which makes the hot springs abundant with new water contents.

On the contrary, the pools dried up almost entirely during the dry season due to the lack of rainfall. As a result, people are usually flocking to Mangeruda in the rainy season months.

How to Get to

To go to Mangeruda, be aware that the hot springs are open from 8 AM to 6 PM every day. The place is also very easy to reach both from Bajawa Soa Airport and Bajawa, where you don’t have to walk that far from the parking lot to the hot springs.

The ticket price for visitors is as follows:

  • Child tourists (Rp7.000)
  • Adult tourists (Rp14.000)

Conclusion

In Mangeruda Hot Springs, not only can you enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds the hot springs, but also the warm hot springs that can relieve you from fatigue during your journey. If you feel tired from visiting many places in Ngada Regency or Flores in general, consider visiting these hot springs to feel rejuvenated both physically and mentally!
